Reda Bekhechi was born in Algeria in 1953 and grew up in the mining city of Sidi Boubeker in Morocco. After returning to Algeria, he pursued medical studies in Switzerland, where he currently works, treating children and adults suffering from psychological difficulties. He also works with a humanitarian association based in Algeria. Les heures de braise is his first novel.
