Born in southern Iraq in 1955, Kadhim Jihad Hassan is a poet, translator, literary critic, and professor at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris. He has published numerous essays and poems in French and Arabic and has translated Dante, Genet, Rimbaud, and Derrida (among many others) into Arabic.
